Island FM goes live from state of the art new home

Tindle’s radio station Island FM has started broadcasting from brand new studios in the Guernsey’s capital St Peter Port.

The broadcasting complex, the most technologically-advanced in Europe, has been a year in planning and construction and is located in the Bordage, in the heart of St Peter Port. The new headquarters represents a significant investment by Tindle and includes new offices, studios and breakout areas.

The project has been designed and managed by Guernsey office specialists iOP with broadcast infrastructure installation undertaken by Broadcast Technical Services.

Longstanding presenter Carl Ward was the first voice to be heard at exactly 10.47am (the station’s FM frequency being 104.7) as the new studios in The Bordage went live.

Carl Ward (pictured) said, “The new studios are incredible – and now we’re ‘townies’ we’re even more accessible to our listeners and advertisers.

“These new facilities are a fantastic sign of our commitment to the local community and we can’t wait to show them off!”

It marks a move from the station’s original home in St Sampson where Island FM first launched in 1992.

In the most recent RAJAR listening figures retained its number one position with 50% of the bailiwick listening every week.
